Bacchus

Bacchus, in Greco-Roman mythology, was a Roman god equivalent to the Greek god Dionysus of Greek mythology. He is son of Jupiter (equivalent to Zeus the Greek god) and Semele. He was the god of the vine, and promoter of its culture as well as the civilisation which accompanied it. Bacchus is represented as riding in a car drawn by tame tigers, and carrying a thyrsus. He rendered signal service to Zeus in the war of the gods with the Giants.
