Balaclava

Balaclava is a small port 6 miles southeast of Sebastopol, with a large land-locked basin. It was the headquarters of the British during the Crimean war, and famous in the war, among other events, for the "Charge of the Six Hundred."

Balaclava also denotes a garment worn by soldiers serving in the Crimean War. It was named after the village of Balaclava in the Crimea where the Battle of Balaclava was fought in 1854. It was a battle of the Crimean War.

A close-fitting garment is also known by this name. It covers the whole head and neck except for parts of the face. The garment is typically made of wool. Such garments were originally worn by soldiers participating in the Battle of Balaclava.
