Balize

Balize is a variant spelling of Belize, a city and a country in Central America region. Formerly, the city was the capital of British Honduras (not to be confused with Honduras, which was under Spain and got independence on 15 September 1821). It became self-governing in January 1964, and got independence from United Kingdom on 21 September 1981. It has been traditionally noted for trade in mahogany, rosewood, &c.
