Barnacle

Barnacle is a marine crustacean belonging to the class Cirripedia. It has an external shell. It attaches itself permanently to a variety of surfaces. They have modified feathery legs that they use to filter particles from the water they feed on. In Middle English, the term denoted barnacle goose. The term also denotes someone or something tenacious.
