Baron Banffy

Baron Banffy (1843 – 1911), full name Baron Dezső Bánffy de Losonc, was Premier of Hungary, born at Klausenburg. He became in 1874 provincial prefect of Transylvania. He was elected a peer on the formation of the Upper Hungarian Chamber, and was made Premier on January 14, 1895. He served as prime minister of Hungary until February 26, 1899. He was a strong Liberal.
