Baron Paul Julius Reuter

Baron Paul Julius Reuter (1816 – 1899), born Israel Beer Josaphat, was German-born British entrepreneur and journalist, born at Cassel. He was the organiser of the conveyance of news by telegraph, commenced with Berlin for centre in 1851. He transferred his head-quarters to London, and the "system," which was in the hands of a limited liability company, had connections with even the remotest corner of the globe. He was the founder of the Reuters news agency, which became part of the Thomson Reuters conglomerate in 2008.
