Barren Island

Barren Island is only active volcano land in India. It is situated at about 135 kms from Port Blair in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. This land of volcano is known as Barren Island for the simple reason that it is not inhabited by human population. The area of this island is about three kilometres ir radius. It has a big crater of volcano rising abruptly from the sea, about half kilometre from the shore and approximately 150 fathoms deep.
