Basket case
'Basket case' was originally a slang. It was prevalent during the World War I. It denoted a soldier who was unable to move independently on account of their being lost all four limbs. This slang later came to be used as an informal term for someone or something regarded as useless or unable to cope with the circumstances they are in. A country or an organization is also informally called a basket case when they are in severe economic or financial crisis, especially if unable to pay their debts.Nearby pages
