Beard

Beard is the hair grown on the chin and lower cheeks of an adult man. The tuft of hair grown on a mammal's chin, such as a goat's chin, or an animal's or a bird's growth or marking likened to a beard, is also called beard. Beard is also the tuft of hairs or bristles grown on certain plants, such as barley, maize etc.

A person is informally called a beard who carries out a transaction, typically a bet, for someone else to conceal the other's identity. This term is also informally used for a pretender of a romantic or sexual relationship who does it to conceal the other's true sexual orientation.
