Beit din

Beit din, literally 'house of judgement' in Hebrew, is a rabbinical court which gives its decisions on the basis of Talmudic law, the two versions of which were Babylonian Talmud and Palestinian or Jerusalem Talmud. It was a legal system or the Biblical Land of Israel. Today, it is invested with legal powers in a number of religious matters both in Israel and in Jewish communities in the Diaspora.
