Benedictus

Benedictus is an invocation, a part of the musical service at Mass in the Roman Catholic Church. The invocation begins with 'Benedictus qui venit in nomine Domini' (Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord). It forms a set part of the mass introduced into the morning service of the English Church. A canticle beginning with 'Benedictus Dominus Deus' (Blessed be the Lord God), picked up for Luke 1:68 — 79 (the Bible), is also called Benedictus.
