Bhojpur

Bhojpur is a district in the State of Bihar in India. It is also known as Arrah district. The district is located at a Longitude of 83º-45' to 84º-45' East and the latitude is 25º-10' to 25º-40' North. Ara town is the headquarters of the district and also its principal town. The Bhojpur district is situated at height of 192.989 meters from Sea.

The district has now three sub-divisions - Ara Sadar,Jagdishpur and Piro. The fourteen Development Blocks in the district are Ara Sadar, Udwantnagar, Jagdishpur, Koilwar, Sahar, Barhara, Sandesh, Shahpur, Charpokhari, Piro, Tarari, Bihia, Agiawon, Garhani.

Area of the district is 2,395 sq. km and population as per census 2011 was 27,28,407.

The district has Rich Paddy Fields. Wheat and Maize are two other most important crops. Rice and Oil mills are only industrial activities in the district. Ganga and Sone are the major rivers.

The present Bhojpur came into existence in 1972. Earlier this district was part of old Sahabad district. In the year 1972 Sahabad district was bifurcated in two parts namely Bhojpur and Rohtas. Buxar was a subdivision of old Bhojpur district. In 1992, Buxar became a separate district.
