Biedermeier
Biedermeier is a style of furniture and interior decoration, or anything related to it. The style was in vogue in Germany during 1815 — 1848, and was named after Gottlieb Biedermeier, a fictitious German provincial schoolmaster and poet, created in 1854 by German satirist Ludwig Eichrodt (1827 — 1892). It was characterized by restraint, conventionality, and utilitarianism.Nearby pages
