Bilharzia

Bilharzia is another name of the blood fluke called schistomome, a parasite. The infestation with blood flukes is a chronic disease, which is also named Bilharzia in medicine. This disease is also known as bilharziasis or schistosomiasis. This chronic disease is endemic in parts of Africa and South America. The disease is named after the German physician T Bilharz (1825 — 62) who discovered the parasite of the genus Schistosoma.
