Bilge

Bilge is the rounded area on the outer surface of a ship's hull. The bottom of the ship curves to join the vertical sides in this area. The lowest internal portion of the hull is also called bilges in which seepage of water is collected and then thrown out. This bilgewater (seepage) is also called bilge in short. The term is also used informally for nonsense or rubbish.
