Bittersweet

Bittersweet is a taste of sweetness with bitter aftertaste. The word is also used to refer to any food or drink that is bittersweet in taste or flavour, or anything that arouse a feeling of pleasure tinged with sadness or pain due to recall of certain memories attached to it.

Bittersweet is also another name for 'woody nightshade', an European climber plant that bears purple flowers and red berries.

Another vinelike plant bearing clusters of bright orange pods is also named 'climbing bittersweet', or bittersweet in short. It belongs to the genus Celastrus, and the family Celastraceae. Celastrus scandens is notable among its several species.
