Boer Wars

Boer Wars were the two wars fought in southern Africa between the Boers and Great Britain, first during 1880 — 81 and the second during 1899 — 1902.

The first Boer War began with the revolt of the Boer settlers in Transvaal against the British rule. However, it ended with establishment of an independent Boer Republic under British suzerainty.

The second Boer War started after the Boer Republic refused to grant grant equal rights to recent British immigrants, which was not acceptable to the British imperialist Cecil Rhodes. The British had superior numbers and established concentration capms to control the countryside. They ultimately defeated the Boers.
