Caius Asinius Pollio
Caius Asinius Pollio (76 BC to AD 4) was an orator, historian, and poet, born at Rome. He sided with Cæsar against Pompey, and after the death of the former with Antony. He was a patron of letters and the friend of Virgil and Horace, both of whom dedicated poems to him. He was the first to establish a public library in Rome.Nearby pages
