Captain Mayne Reid

Captain Mayne Reid (1818-1883), full name Thomas Mayne Reid, was a British novelist, born at Ballyroney, County Down, Ireland. He led a life of adventure in America, and served in the Mexican War (1846–1848), but settled afterwards in England to literary work, and wrote a succession of tales of adventure.
