Chosroës I

Chosroës I, surnamed the Great, also spelled Khosrow, was king of Persia from 531 to 579, a wise and beneficent ruler. He waged war with the Roman armies successfully for 20 years.

Chosroës II was his grandson, king from 590 to 625. He made extensive inroads on the Byzantine empire, but was defeated and driven back by Heraclius. He was eventually deposed and put to death.
