Christian Friedrich Schwarz

Christian Friedrich Schwarz (1726-1798) was a German missionary in India, born in Brandenburg. He laboured 16 years at Trichinopoly, gained the friendship of the Rajah of Tanjore, and settled there in 1778. He also succeeded in winning the favour of Hyder Ali of Mysore, and proved himself to be in all senses a minister of the gospel of peace.
