Cities of Refuge
Cities of refuge was a term used among the ancient Jews, and is mentioned in the Bible, for six cities - three on the East and three on the West of the Jordan, in which the manslayer might find refuge from the avenger of blood. The cities in the East of the river were Golan in Bashan in the tribe of Manasseh, Ramoth in Gilead in the tribe of Gad, and Bezer (Bosor) in the wilderness on the plateau in the tribe of Reuben. The cities in the West or the river were - Kedesh in the hill country of Naphtali, Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim, and Hebron in the hill country of Judah.Nearby pages
