Duc de Biron

Duc de Biron (1562-1602), also Charles de Gontaut, 1st Duke of Biron, was a French noble and Marshal. He was son of Marshal Armand de Gontaut, baron de Biron. He served also bravely under Henry IV, however, being a man of no principle and discontented with the reward he got for his services, intrigued with the Duke of Savoy and with Spain against Henry. He was arrested and sent to the Bastille, where, after trial, he was beheaded.
