Dumfries
Dumfries is an agricultural market-town, a county town of the historic county of Dumfriesshire, a former royal burgh in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, and a seaport, stands on the left bank of the Nith near its mouth on the Solway Firth, with Maxwelltown as suburb on the right, 90 miles southwest of Edinburgh. It has been manufacturing tweeds and hosiery, and trades in cattle. It is here Robert Burns spent the last five years of his life, and his remains lie buried.Nearby pages
