Fidel Castro

Fidel Castro (1926-2016), full name Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz, was a Cuban revolutionary and political leader. He led uprising against Cuban President Batista. He was named prime minister in 1959. He established Marxist-Leninist programme to govern Cuba, replaced US economic dominance of Cuba with dependence on the Soviet Union and other communist countries. He became president of the nonaligned countries' movement in 1979. With fall of Soviet Union, his government weakened.
