George Meikle Kemp

George Meikle Kemp (1795-1844) was a Scottish architect, born in Moorfoot, Peeblesshire. He was bred a millwright, became a draughtsman, studied Gothic architecture, and designed the Scott Monument in Edinburgh. He was drowned one evening in the Union Canal before the work was finished.
