Gilead

Gilead, also Gilad, is a tableland extending along the East of the Jordan, at a general level of 2000 ft. above the sea, the highest point near Ramoth-Gilead being 3597 ft. It is a biblical name of the region, currently in Jordan. It should be noted that the Bible has also referred by this name all the region east of the Jordan River.
