Haripada Chowdhury

Haripada Chowdhury was a revolutionary freedom fighter of India. He was born in 1913 at Madanpara, Faridpur, now in Bangladesh. He was son of Akshoy Kumar Chowdhry (a landlord and Governement employee). He was a student of BA, when he was arrested in connection with the Watson shooting case on 15.10.1932. However, he was tried separately under Arms and Explosives Act. He was sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) and deported to Andamans jail where he participated in the second hunger strike. He was released thereafter, but rearrested in 1938, only to be released again in 1939. His total jail period was 7 years.
