Hemavathi
Hemavathi is a religious place in the district of Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh in India. It is located at about 140km from Anantapur town. It is famous for Doddeswara Swamy temple. It was built during the Pallava reign.The stone used in making the idols in the temple sounds like metal when struck and is also remarkably polished. A Nandi made of black basalt granite, 8 feet in lenght and 4 feet in height sits at its entrance. There is a 6 feet tall Lingam installed inside the sanctum sanctorum.
There are also two other temples in the premises. One is dedicated to Lord Shiva called the Siddeswara Swamy temple. The other is Mallikarjuna Swamy temple. There is also a museum inside the premises which has rare idols of historical importance.
