Isabella

Isabella (1292-1358) was daughter of King Philip IV of France who also became queen of England. She was married to Edward II of England (1308-27). In 1325, she left England and returned to France. She, along with her lover, Roger de Mrtimer, organized an invasion of England in 1326. They murdered Edward II. She became regent on behalf of her son, Edward III. Isabella and Mortimer’s regime ended in 1330, when Isabella’s son Edward III deposed Mortimer in turn, taking back his authority and executing Isabella’s lover. The Queen was, however, not punished. She died in 1358.
