J J R Macleod

J J R Macleod (1876-1935), full name John James Rickard Macleod, was a Scottish physiologist who was awarded Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine in 1923, which he shared with Sir Frederick Banting. He directed the research on pancreatic extracts by Frederick G Banting and Charles H Best that led to the discovery and isolation of insulin.
