Jacob Bernoulli

Jacob Bernoulli (1654 — 1705), also known as Jacques or James Bernoulli, was a Swiss professor of mathematics. He is known for his discoveries in calculus, and contributions to geometry and the theory of probabilities. He was the elder brother of Johann Bernoulli (1667 — 1748), another noted mathematician.
