Bernoulli

Bernoulli is a famous Swiss family known for many eminent mathematicians and scientists including Jacob Bernoulli (1654 — 1705), Johann Bernoulli (1667 — 1748), and Daniel Bernoulli (1700 — 1782).

They were born at Basel, though of Dutch origin. The three were popularly known as James, John, and Daniel, of whom John is the most celebrated. He was professor first at St. Petersburg and then at Basel. He discovered the exponential calculus and the method of integrating rational fractions, as well as the line of swiftest descent.
