Jacobus Arminius

Jacobus Arminius (1560-1609), a Latinized name of Jacob Hermandszoon, was a learned Dutch Protestant theologian and founder of Arminianism, an assertion of the free-will of man in the matter of salvation against the necessitarianism of Calvin.
