John Campbell
John Campbell (1779-1861) was Lord Chancellor of England, born at Cupar-Fife. He was a son of the manse. He was destined for the Church, but took the study of law and was called to the bar. He also did journalistic work and law reports. In politics, he was a Whig. He held a succession of offices both on the Bench and in the Cabinet. He wrote the "Lives of the Chancellors" and the "Lives of the Chief Justices".Nearby pages
