Jomo Kenyatta

Jomo Kenyatta (1891-1978) was a Kenyan politician who is known as founder of modern Kenya. He was an orphan and got education in mission school. He was most active in Kenyan nationalist movement and became member of nationalist extremist Kenya African group. He had to undergo seven years of imprisonment. He was released in 1958. After that he became president of KANU Party, a member of parliament in 1961, prime minister in 1963, and first president of Republic of Kenya in 1964.
