Joseph Stalin

Joseph Stalin (1878 - 1953), full name Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin, born Ioseb Besarionis dze Jughashvili, was a Georgian revolutionary and Soviet political leader. He was General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (1922–1952) and Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Soviet Union (1941–1953). He led the Soviet Union from 1924 until his death in 1953, initially governed the country as part of collective leadership but became dictator in the 1930s. His ideology was "Leninist interpretation of Marxism" and hence called Marxism-Leninism which later included his own policies which is known as Stalinism.
