KANARA

KANARA is a region in the state of Karnataka in India. It is situated between Goa and Malabar.

During British Raj in India, it was a district and divided into North Kanara and South Kanara. NORTH KANARA was in Bombay Presidency and SOUTH KANARA, having capital at Mangalore, was in Madras.

It was known as rainy and mostly malarial forest country, with the Ghat Mountains and many rivers.
