!Karimganj District Karimganj is a district in the state of Assam in India. It is located between Longitude range 92°15' - 92°35' East and Latitude range 24°15' - 25°55' North, and is bounded in the North by Bangladesh and Cachar, in the South by Tripura and Mizoram, in the East by Hailakandi and in the West by Bangladesh and Tripura. The district shares 92 km of international border with Bangladesh. Karimganj town is the district headquarters and is located on the northern fringe of the district adjoining Bangladesh. Together with two other neighbouring districts of Cachar and Hailakandi, it constitutes the Barak Valley region of Assam. The district came into existence in 1983. It is spread over an area of 1809 sq km. Population as per census 2011 was 1,217,002. This district has one subdivision named Karimganj. Karimganj, Nilambazar, Patharkandi, Ramkrishna Nagar, and Badarpur are the five tehsils; and North Karimganj, South Karimganj, Badarpur, Patherkandi, Ramkrishna Nagar, Lowairpoa, and Dullavcherra are the seven community development blocks of the district. It has 1130 villages.
