Li Bing

Li Bing (c. 3rd century BC), also Li Ping, was a Chinese philosopher and hydraulic engineer. He became the first engineer to tame the Minjiang River and built the Dujiangyan River Control System on it. He became provincial governor of the state of Qin during Chin dynasty's rule. His work on the Dujiangyan River Control System was significant, which controlled flooding and provided irrigation water year-round. Li Bing became a cultural icon. He is also known as the vanquisher of the River God. Dujiangyan is still in use today and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
