Lohardaga
Lohardaga is a district in Jharkhand state of India. There are several theories as to how this place came to be known as Lohardaga. According to one theory this place was once a major centre for smelting iron ('Lohar' means iron monger, and 'dagga' means centre), and thus it came to be knows as Lohardaga.
In Jain literature it is Lore-a-Yadaga and the term lore-a-Ydaga is also found in Mundari language which means river of tears. Thus the place that seem to be bitterly weeping for its ruined status and shedding river of tears is called Lohardaga. There are five blocks in this district namely Lohardaga, Kuru, Kisko, Senha, and Bhandra. The number of villages in this district are 353, while there are 67 Gram Panchayats.
