Norodom Sihanouk

Norodom Sihanouk (1922-2012), full name Preah Bat Samdech Preah Norodom Sihanouk, was a Cambodian ruler. He became king at the age of eighteen in 1940. After getting independence from France in 1953, he was abdicated from throne, but was named chief of state in 1960. He was overthrown in 1970, but became chief of the state again, again to be overthrown in 1976 and placed under house arrest. He was released and reinstated as chief of state again in 1993.
