Palinurus

Palinurus, in Roman mythology, was the pilot of one of the ships of Aeneas, who, sleeping at his post, fell into the sea, and was drowned. His story is part of Virgil's (70 BC – 19 BC) Aeneid. Cape Palinurus (modern Capo Palinuro in Lucania) is named after him where he is supposed to be drowned.
