Prithviraj Chauhan was one of the great warrior kings of India. He was ruler of Ajmer which also included Delhi.

He carried off Raja Jai Chand's daughter and thereby incurred his ire.

He fought the two battles of Tarain and was probably caught by Mohammad Ghori and was killed later.

The epic Prithviraj Raso was written by his court poet Chand Bardai.
