Ration

Ration is the quantity of commodities that is officially fixed for each individual or family for a period, say a month, or a week etc. The commodities can be given at a fixed price or free of cost. This system is usually implemented by a government or authority during a time of shortage, or for welfare reasons. For example, 35 kg rice per family per month at the rate of Rs 2 per kg.
