Rudranath is in Uttarakhand state of India. It is a famous place of pilgrimage. Lord Shiv is its presidig deity. It is located at a height of about 2286 metres above sea level. It is situated at a distance of about 18 kms from Gopeshwar. The Shiv temple here is known as Rudranath temple. According to the legend of ((Kedarnath)), Lord Shiv reappeared in the shape of the mouth of a buffalo. People worship this mouth form of Lord Shiv. The religious importance of this place lies in a tradition that tells us about what happens after death. It is believed that the souls of people, after they die, come to this place to cross Vaitarni river. The temple here is surrounded by lakes like Surya Kund, Chandra Kund, Tara Kund, Manas Kund and so on. The famous Ansuiya Devi Temple is situated at only three kilometres farther.
