Saint John of the Cross

Saint John of the Cross (1542 - 1591), born Juan de Yepes y Álvarez, also known in Spanish by the name Juan de la Cruz, was one of the thirty-six Doctors of the Church. He was a Spanish Catholic priest, mystic, and a Carmelite friar, known for playing a major role in the Counter-Reformation in Spain.
