San Stefano

San Stefano was a Turkish village, a few miles West of Constantinople, where a preliminary treaty was signed between Turkey and Russia after the war of 1877-78. San Stefano, or Santo Stefano, is the Greek name, which was changed to Yeşilköy (meaning "Green Village") in Turkish in 1926. It remained a secluded village until 1970, and a sea resort. Now it is in the municipality area of Bakırköy, Istanbul Province, Turkey.
