Scotch

Scotch is a wedge. It is placed under a wheel or rolling object so as to stop it from moving. Slipping of rolling objects are also prevented by its use. A scotch is also a cut on a surface, particularly on skin, or short form of 'Scotch whisky'. The people of Scotland are also called Scotch, but use of this term in this sense in not now in fashion. There was a time when a form of English spoken in Scotland was called Scotch, but its use in this sense has also become out of fashion.
