Sherko Bekas

Sherko Bekas (1940-2013), full name Sherko Fayaq Abdullah, was a Kurdish poet. He was born in southern Kurdistan, Iraq. He was son of poet. His first collection of poems published in 1968. His works often revolve around need for Kurdish independence. He has nationalist involved in Kurdish national liberation movement. Since 1987, has lived and worked in Sweden.
